THIS IS A NEW BUILDING WITH 250NO. 3-BEDROOM APARTMENTS, AND D&S WAS CONTRACTED TO SUPPLY AND INSTLL SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEMS FOR THE APARTMENTS, EACH WITH A 300L UTRASUN STARDARD SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEMS.
ALL THE SYSTEMS WERE MOUNTED ON THE FLAT ROOF, WITH A PRESSURIZED WATER SUPPLY.
TOTAL NUMBER OF 300LITRES SYSTEMS INSTALLED WERE 250NO.
THE SITE ALSO HAS A SHOPPING MALL AND RECREATIONAL CENTRE, AND EXPECTED TO SERVE THE LANGATA COMMUNITY AND THE NEW RESIDENTS.

THE PROJECT INVOLVED INSTALLATION OF A 100KW SOLAR SYSTEM WITH BATTERIES AND GENERATOR TO POWER THE UNHCR COMPOUND IN KAKUMA, WITH ESTIMATED LAOD OF 120KW.

THIS IS A SITE RUNNING AN RO UNIT COMPRISING OF 32NO. 315W SOLAR MODULES, 1NO. STP10000TL, HOME MANAGER,MODULES INSTALLED ON THE ROOF, AND WITH SUNNY PORTAL REMOTE MONITORING. THE TOTAL LOAD IS 9KW, AND DURING THE DAY, MOST OF THE POWER IS FROM SOLAR AND THE REST FROM THE GRID. THE CLIENT HAS BEEN ABLE TO REDUCE HIS POWER BILL BY OVER 40%, AND WE INTEND TO INCREASE THE CAPACITY IN FUTURE.

It gives details of the equipment installed and highlights on the various installation activities carried out.

Davis & Shirtliff designed, supplied and installed a Solar water pumping system, with provision for Mains Power as backup, to deliver 450m³/day to Ngoma Irrigation Scheme (Rwanda) for Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources .
Key deliverables included:
- 45kW Solar PV power generation system.
- Design of Solar and Mains power pump control systems.
- Pumps to deliver required duty 450m³/day with a multi pump control system to control duty/standby operation.
Approval of designs was done by Takaoka Engineering Co. Ltd (Japan).
Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing was by the Principal contractor Konoike Construction Co., Ltd.

Its funded by LapTrust and Landmark is the Contractor. D&S was sub-contracted to carry out the solar hot water installations in all the apartments, 252No.
Work was done in 2018, and completed and commissioned in December 2018.
